There are a couple changes I thought I would share with you.

1. We own a house! I introduced you to her last month. We closed this past Friday, and now we're officially home owners! I haven't taken many pictures yet and I haven't uploaded the ones I have taken, so you'll just have to wait a few more days for those. I'm sure you're on the edge of you seats!

2. I finally gave up pumping during work. I've been toying with the idea for a while. I figure nine months is a good stretch. It was just becoming more of a hassle than it was worth. Throughout the whole day I was getting less than one full bottle for her. It was just frustrating. And I think she's about ready to be done, she doesn't have much patience for it anymore :) I figure now is a good time to stop. I'm a little uncomfortable today, but man it's nice to not have to pump. That gets old after nine months. I'm going to continue feeding her as much as I can at home.

So maybe those aren't earth shattering, you probably haven't been thinking to yourself, "Gee, I wonder if Katie's still pumping at work?" And I don't blame you, it's not very interesting (or pleasant) to think about.

On a positive note (and slightly related), my friends Jamie and Danny had a HUGE change yesterday! They had their baby! Her name is Audra Marie. She weighed in at 8 pounds and 9 ounces and 21 3/4 inches long. I hope it's ok that I stole this picture from Facebook to share! What a cutie! I can't wait to visit and hold her. I'll also need to share pictures of what I made for her! I'll give you a hint... it's a blanket!

I'm super excited to give you a little virtual tour of the new house soon! Just for fun, I'll leave you with the inspiration for my title today:

A Couple Phone Pics

I take quite a few pictures of Sylvia on my phone. It's pretty awful quality as far as the camera goes, but I almost always have it on hand to catch cute moments. Here are a few recent ones.

Sylvia was sick recently, this picture was after taking medicine. I love her expression in this picture, but I'm not really sure what it means. I think it's amusement maybe? Kind of like, "Mmmm, that's interesting." I don't know. What do you think?

This picture falls into one of my most frequent picture categories:  the play time picture. She's just so good at it!

We like to eat sans pants in the Pauls household. Just kidding, that's mostly Blake and Sylvia. I keep it classy.

Sylvia's First Play Date

Sylvia and I visited my friend Emily and her super cute little girl Harper this weekend. Harper is a month older than Sylvia and we'd been talking at work about how much we wanted to get them together. We made it happen this weekend!

The contrast between the two was pretty funny. Harper is already walking with one of her push toys! She crawls like it's her job, too. Sylvia, on the other hand, is pretty content to either play with toys sitting or on her back. She likes to roll a lot, so most of the toys end up being steamrolled by her. We joked that Harper is a bulldozer and Sylvia is a steamroller. Harper is such a friendly baby. Before long, she was crawling all over me and I loved it!

They didn't pay a lot of attention to each other, but there were a few instances of face and leg touching that were pretty cute. Sylvia also kicked Harper in the face, so that was nice. It's also obvious that Harper is learning to share while Sylvia has not quite gotten the hang of it. Sylvia was happy to take (and keep) anything Harper handed to her. Emily and I liked to think that it was because everything was so new to Sylvia. I'm not sure if that's the truth, but it sounds better.

The girls even napped at the same time so we could eat lunch in peace and get started on crocheting lessons. I'm in the process of teaching Emily how to crochet, and I'm super excited to have a crochet buddy! Aren't Sylvia and her future best friend cute together? Maybe we'll teach them to crochet some day. Sylvia is so luck, we already have a best friend and a husband picked out for her. We'll end with a gratuitous Sylvia shot that Emily was nice enough to take.

Some stuff I've made

Yep. That's a giant cupcake. It's called Hummingbird Cake. As always, I found the recipe on Annie's Eats. I pay Kristin and Al in cupcakes for watching Sylvia. Last time, Al requested a tropical flavor. This popped up on my favorite food blog, and I knew it would work. It's got a banana base that made it taste a little like banana bread. There is also some crushed pineapple in there. The frosting is cream cheese. I heard it was good :)

These are some pretzels I made for Blake to take to a Super Bowl party. I didn't have any of these either. Although when I actually make them and eat them, they're pretty tasty. Once again, because of Annie's Eats, I have a new and awesome go-to recipe for soft pretzels.

And last but not least, here is the baby blanket I made for our friend's Russ and Jacqueline.

Here's a picture of the initials I added to the center circle. Nolan James Lahey. Cool name, huh!

And even better, here's a picture with the cutie and his daddy.

And best of all, how about a cute picture of the fam?
I just made the blanket, this lovely lady made the baby!

Yes, I Married Him

I told Blake the minute I shot this video that I was going to put it on my blog. He said he was ok with it. I'm not sure why. The majority of the video is cute. The ending... oh, the ending.

Sylvie and Kage's Day From Hell

That's what yesterday was. Even though Sylvia had a bad night that most likely meant ear infection, she woke up yesterday morning in a pretty good mood. Here's a picture.

How cute is she?

Anyway, here's the breakdown:

It all started when we went to the doctor's office and almost got ran over. Seriously, this lady almost backed into me while I was carrying Sylvia. She never looked behind her or to the side. Not once. Even when I was standing less than two feet from her window staring in shock.

After that, we found out that she (Sylvia, not the bitch in the white SUV) had an ear infection in at least one ear. The doctor wasn't sure about the other, it was so full of wax he wasn't able to tell. When he tried to clean some of it out he tore the skin in her ear. I about puked when she started screaming and there were drops of blood splattered on the table. He told me right away that it was just from the wax, her eardrum wasn't punctured. Either way, it was devastating to see her in pain like that. Now we have to get drops to soften it up for her next appointment. I'm sure that will go really well.

When I got to the second pharmacy, the first didn't have what we needed, I found out that her medication costs $85 even with my insurance. Because I care more about my daughter than my bank account, I forked over the money. Then I got McDonald's because mommy was stressed out.

Everything seemed to be fine once we get home and she had her medicine. Sylvia was happy, eating, and napping.

She woke up, ate again, and then promptly puked all over me and herself. She's never thrown up before, but she didn't seem to be upset. Immediately afterward she looked at me as if to say, "That was fun, what's next?" She also managed to puke directly into my shirt sleeve. Then Blake gets home and she pukes again.

After calling the doctor's office, they change her medication. I'm off to HyVee for another prescription. This one, $50. And apparently there's nothing HyVee or my insurance can do for me about the $85 I wasted on the first medication.

Luckily, she hasn't thrown up since. She doesn't really want to take it, but she's feeling better and is her happy self (for the most part). Blake's home with her today. We didn't feel like she would be ready for daycare with the day we had yesterday, although she handled it better than I did. At least she made it through the day without a Big Mac. Well, I guess she probably got a little at some point, but any that went through to my milk probably ended up in my shirt sleeve.

Here's a picture Blake sent me a few minutes ago. I have an awesome baby. Sometimes I love her so much it hurts. She handled an awful day so well. She slept great and gave me a big hug this morning. I almost wasn't able to leave.
