Decorating Loraine

I took kind of a hiatus from decorating for a while. There are other things that come up, and the house is always there waiting whenever I decide to make her a little prettier.

I've spoken of my love of Pinterest before. It runs deep. I've found a few things that I absolutely want to use in our house. The first was an awesome wall stencil.

With some help from the husband, I created my own stencil. Then I traced the small wall in my kitchen and painted, painted, painted.

This was the start. I first painted every other column of stenciling. I had fantasies of painting different colors between the gray. In the end, I went with one column of yellow and left the rest gray.

I have a thing for aqua recently, so I tried painting the inside of the yellow with it. That looked dumb. Then I tried painting a thin line of aqua on the inside of the yellow. That looked dumb, too. Blake likes the one yellow stripe. I'm ok with it, but I think that your eye needs something to look at when it's drawn there. I'm not sure what yet. Any thoughts?

Edit: You can find the link to the stencil here.

If Lloyd Christmas had a daughter

If Lloyd Christmas had a daughter, she would have Sylvia's current haircut. Ok, maybe I'm exaggerating a little. For those of you drawing a blank:

Anyway, we were to the point that we pretty much had to do this in order to keep her hair out of her eyes.

I decided it was time to chop those bangs. And like all first haircuts should be, it was kind of awful.
Ok, this one just made me laugh.
Anyway, Sylvia doesn't seem to mind, so I think I did alright. Her hair can still do this:

On second thought, I'm not sure if that's a good thing...
